"This challenge allowed me to put things into perspective so rather than fitting health within my work life, for 8 weeks I fitted work around my health."
Reason to start The Challenge
Healthy living and want to shred and tone up. This might give me the motivation to train hard eat well and get into a healthy routine.
What did you like most about The Challenge?
Obviously seeing my body transform over that period was rewarding. Having a set training and nutrition plan every week was a huge help as it gave you structure so the rest was up to you to be disciplined to keep to it.
What was the hardest thing about your Challenge?
Nutrition was by far the most mental challenging things I have ever endured! there were days where I felt flat and just wanted to give up but determination set in which was great.
What impact has The Challenge had on your life?
This has had a massive impact on my life! I realised what was important in life as I had the wrong balance in life with work coming before me. This challenge allowed me to put things into prospective so rather than fitting health within my work life, for 8 weeks I fitted work around my health. More importantly the fact that my wife also did the challenge really gave us more quality time together and we both loved motivating each other and preventing each other from falling off the wagon when ever we felt flat.
What would you say to people who are thinking of doing The Challenge?
Throughout this challenge I have had a lot of people ask questions about it because they were seeing my results. JUST DO IT! if you want to change your lifestyle then this challenge is the best way to do it but you have to want it as your discipline will be tested mentally and physically but worth it in the end.

Stop focusing on weight loss
I’d tried to lose weight before but never really stuck to it. Every other time I was focused on “I want to lose weight, I want to lose this much weight”. It was always more about the weight — not about getting healthy and fit.
But I was sick of not eating healthy and not feeling healthy. This time I wanted to be healthy - it was about being healthy again. And the weight loss just followed from that, which is why I think I stuck to it.
A lot of people think they’ll do the eight weeks then have an awesome body, but it’s not it’s not just about that. You’ve got to want to change your whole lifestyle and be healthier.
Prepare, prepare, prepare
Before the challenge started I just read up everything about it, everything on the website. I also had all my supplements — protein and magnesium and that sort of thing — all organised before I started the challenge. That was good to have ready from the start.
It’s really motivating having it all set out for you. Being really organised made it easy for me. At first it seems like a lot of effort to put aside a couple of hours in the afternoon to prepare all your food — but once it’s done, you’ll thank yourself for it.
Ignore the scales
I think people get obsessive with weighing themselves on the scales. You get disheartened because you might not be losing weight — because you’re building muscle. So it doesn’t show on the scale.
I never weighed myself apart from when I had a body composition — three scans over the course of the challenge. But I took photos every Sunday or every second Sunday, and compared them. They were a much better indication of my progress [than my weight]. It was so much better seeing photos, and comparing the first photos to final photos is crazy!
